Big Bear, Ca June 21, 2011 4:00 pm – A pavement repair project on State Route 18 going towards Lucerne Valley may affect commuters and other travelers on the highway between the hours of 6:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday CalTrans announced this morning. This portion of the project began in the Big Bear Valley today and is expected to finish in Apple Valley by late August. Highway 18 pavement repairs from the dam through Fawnskin have been completed. Delays during this current phase of the project can be expected to be up to 20 minutes. Motorists traveling the route are asked to watch for reduced speed signs and flagging, and to be particularly careful with workers in the roadway. In the past 2 months, three CalTrans workers have been hit by vehicles on Southern California highways, and have died from their injuries.
