Big Bear, Ca, April 11, 2011, 12:00pm – Paul Romero and Karen Lundgren, Big Bear locals, Mt. Everest climbers, and all around outdoor enthusiasts are competing in the EcoMotion Adventure Race in Brazil. The race which started today will continue for the next few days and teams will cover 630 kilometers on foot, by bicycle, horseback, and will even have to climb and rappel a section of the course. Paul and Karen of Team Sole have paired up with Rafael Campos and Mateus Ferraz Gil of Brazil to create team Quasar Lontra. The Ecomotion Adventure Race is part of the World-wide circuit of Adventure Races, in and from the countries of Argentina, Chile, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Uruguay, Brazil and the United States are represented in this race. Out of 36 four person teams, Paul and Karen’s team is currently in second place. The race started with a 15 kilometer paddle, followed by a 33 k mountain bike section into an 80 k trek through the jungles of Brazil. Paul and Karen told KBHR that they are excited for the race, and as always they will “Go Fast, and Take Chances.”
