If you have wondered what happened to Operation Breakthrough, they’re still here—they just have a new name and a new location. The non-profit, which used to be headquartered on Knickerbocker Road, is now located in the Summit Plaza (along with DOVES and Lutheran Social Services) at 41945 Big Bear Boulevard on the second floor. Prompted by funding sources, Operation Breakthrough is now under the umbrella of the Morongo Basin Mental Health Services Association and, like the facility in Barstow, will be called Panorama Ranch. The team at the Big Bear Lake offices of Panorama Ranch still includes the same staff as Operation Breakthrough, and the same alcohol and drug outpatient services as previously provided. As told to KBHR by Prevention Specialist Bonnie Shaffer, “We want to be as personal as we have always been.” Panorama Ranch facilities in the Summit Plaza will be available Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm, and the staff, which will still conduct their Prevention Task Force (to keep kids from drugs and alcohol), can be reached at new phone number 878-0101.
Update: Next meeting of the Task Force scheduled for Tuesday, August 18 at 6:30pm. Attendees are asked to RSVP to 878-0101; exact location to be determined on Monday.
