Big Bear, CA, April 8, 2015 – Big Bear Cycling is proud to host, for the third straight year, the Big Bear Time Trial of the 31st Annual Redlands Bicycle Classic. The Classic has the distinction of being the first race on the 2015 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar. Craig Smith of Big Bear Cycling said, “The North Shore of Big Bear Lake to the town of Fawnskin provides a spectacular setting and is the perfect location to host such a top domestic time trial event; plus along with our Amgen Tour of California Time Trial in May, it solidifies Big Bear’s position as Southern California’s cycling capital.”
The Time Trial will cause some traffic issues that motorists should be aware of, however. Highway 38, North Shore Drive, will be closed from Stanfield Cutoff west to the Fawnskin triangle on Thursday, April 9, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Also, please be aware of heavy bicycle traffic on the southbound lane of North Shore Drive between Stanfield Cutoff and Division from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., as professional riders will be warming up for the races. The East Boat Ramp will be closed as well, but you may launch free at Big Bear Marina on Thursday only.
Spectators wishing to watch the race and visit the team parking lot, are asked to park in the North Shore Elementary School parking lot and walk to the race area via the Alpine Pedal Path. Excellent turnaround viewing as well as restaurants and shops will also be available in downtown Fawnskin.
