The 6th annual Carp Round-Up on Big Bear Lake takes place this weekend (June 6 & 7), and two-person teams for the two-day event can still sign up through the Municipal Water District. The entry fee is $40 per person, and participants will receive a t-shirt, raffle ticket, mesh fish bag and hot dog lunch at Sunday’s awards ceremony, to take place at the MWD offices at 2pm. Hunting times in the Carp Round-Up are 7am to 4pm on Saturday, and 7am to 2pm on Sunday; cash prizes up to $1,000 will be awarded to teams who round up the most carp. Last year’s Carp Round-Up netted over 7,000 pound of carp, which were ultimately placed in a landfill in Landers. Local Gary Steube reeled in the biggest of the carp, at 10.2 pounds, in the 5th annual roundup, which earned him a $200 prize. For more information on this year’s event, you can visit the MWD website.
