Big Bear, Ca, October 26, 2010, 12:00pm – The Old Miners Association is stepping it up this coming year, with a current miner taking the reigns as the new President. Dayan Anderson was elected as the new Old Miners President on Monday October 25th. Anderson is a mining consultant and is part of the organization Women in Mining. Anderson stated that her ideas for Old Miners included working on reestablishing the parade, putting some actual mining heritage into Old Miners events, and regaining the trust of the valley. Anderson told KBHR the Big Bear Valley has a “colorful mining history, but Mark Twain didn’t write about it, so people don’t know about it.” Anderson is excited to take over as the president of the organization and states that she is “looking forward to staking a new claim for the Old Miners.” Elections for the rest of the board positions are as follows: Richard Millener, old time photographer extraordinaire will become the First Vice President, Second Vice President will be Bill Douglas, Chief Financial Officer will be Julie Douglas, Treasurer will be Van Sorrels, and the Secretary will be Margrethe Rose.
