Big Bear Lake, Ca, September 2, 2010, 3:00pm – Jim Miller, Director of Building and Planning for the City, has been appointed to the Contractors State License Board by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The 15-member license board regulates California’s construction industry. There are more than 310,000 licensed contractors in the state. Miller has been with the City since July 2007. He serves as the department head for both the Building & Safety and Planning divisions, working closely with the Planning Commission on long-term development goals. Miller is an integral part of the City’s management team. “Jim’s proven ability to resolve complex issues through community outreach, cross-departmental coordination and competent leadership will clearly serve him well on the State Board. Add the leverage that comes with Jim serving at the State level, it will undoubtedly benefit the City,” stated City Manager Jeff Mathieu. Miller possesses over 23 years of progressive management responsibility in both City and County government in relation to planning, building, housing, public works, economic development and code enforcement programs.
