Big Bear Lake, CA, April 10, 2014 – This year’s Man About Town fundraiser will benefit local women’s health programs, and Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley has named the campaign “Healthy Women Make Healthy Families.”
Under that umbrella are proactive practices for physical health–such as getting regular mammograms and following a lifestyle to prevent diabetes–and also mental health, which includes knowing how to avoid an abusive relationship, and how to seek help for depression. There are also programs to support financial health, like money management education and career counseling.
The candidates are Ray Hino, Jim Miller and Michael Natzic, and they have a busy few weeks ahead of them raising money for the campaign. Each dollar equals one vote, and the man with the most dollars will be crowned Man About Town 2014 at the May 18 finale event at Northwoods Resort.
The event calendar kicks off this weekend, with Ray’s Hoe-Down at Northwoods Resort Friday night at 5:30, and Team Miller’s Derby Night at the Races starting at 6pm on Saturday at the PAC. Tickets are available at the door.
