Big Bear Lake, CA, May 25, 2012, 1:00pm – On Monday, May 28, 2012 the Big Bear Valley Marine Corps League Detachment 1038 and the American Legion Post 584 will participate in a special program commemorating the sacrifices of the United States military personnel in all our wars. The keynote speaker for the solemn event is Bill Jahn, Mayor of Big Bear Lake. The ceremony will begin at 9:30am with a procession of the symbolic hearse from the intersection of Village Drive and Pine Knot Avenue led by Major Nelson Reynolds, USAF Retired and his bagpipes. The ceremony includes The Marine Corps League Color Guard, The American Legion Post 584 Honor Guard, Women’s Auxiliary American Legion Post 584, Officials of the City of Big Bear Lake, Reverend Tom Goodman of the American Legion Post 584, Girl Scout Troop 1351, Boy Scout Troop 49, and Vocalist & Music by students of Diane Sloan. The public is invited to join veterans and families of service personnel, past and present to participate in the procession and ceremony at Veterans Park.
