Local fire crews have been on scene in the Sugarloaf area this afternoon, putting out two small vegetation fires in the vicinity of Baldwin and Maple Lanes, near Baldwin Lane Elementary School. The fires were reported by a pilot flying overhead at about 3:30pm this afternoon, and responding agencies included the Big Bear City Fire Department, the Big Bear Lake Fire Department, San Bernardino County Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service. By just after 4pm, the small fires had been contained, and crews from the Forest Service took over mop up operations, allowing other agencies to be released.
