Big Bear Valley Community Emergency Response Teams will take part in the first-ever day-long CERT Field Exercises Training Day this Saturday. It will be at the Big Bear City Community Services District Paradise Maintenance Yard from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The day’s events will test the readiness of these citizen volunteers who are committed to helping family and the community in a disaster situation. The organization’s president, Gabe Velasquez, says CERT Field Exercises give he and his colleagues a chance to put their training into action and determine in what areas they need to train more. CERT Teams are divided by area: Fawnskin, Sugarloaf, Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake and Green Valley Lake. Each Division has a Division Leader who will be in charge of the group for the day and who leads each Division through a series of activities designed to challenge skills.
