Big Bear Lake, CA — The City of Big Bear Lake is making efforts to be a zero-waste community and, to that end, the City has partnered with Big Bear Disposal to add three eco-friendly trucks to the refuse fleet. Two of the new trucks to be used by Big Bear Disposal are 2010 Peterbilts with Amrep bodies, featuring the latest, state-of-the-art low emission Cummins diesel ISL 345 horsepower engines, which operate within 95% emissions of new compressed natural gas engines. The new trucks, as well as the City’s new “zero-waste” artwork, will be unveiled tomorrow morning, and the community is invited to participate in the presentation, to be held at the Big Bear Lake Civic Center (39707 Big Bear Boulevard) at 8:30am on the 14th. Given the new, zero-waste approach, and mindful of Earth Day next Thursday the 22nd, Big Bear Lake officials encourage residents to buy organic food, use printer paper that is 100% post-consumer recycled, unplug those electronic items that are not in use, and, as offered through Big Bear Disposal, recycle paper, plastic and glass to reduce your carbon footprint; for more on this, visit carboncounter.org.
