San Bernardino Mountains, Ca, October 4, 2010, 12:00pm – The recent thunder and lightning storms that started last Tuesday on September 29th, caused a total of 13 small spot fires to start last week all over the San Bernardino Mountains, with only one of the fires being close to the Big Bear area. All of the spot fires have been contained and put out. After a lightning storm, the US Forest Service will have aerial surveillance in the area for 5 days, searching for small spot fires, and smoke. John Miller of the US Forest Service also told KBHR that after a storm, steam and moisture can look like smoke. The Big Bear Valley is expected to receive more rain over the next few days, with a possibility of thunderstorms. Remember that when Thunder Roars, Go Indoors.
