Big Bear Lake, CA, November 26, 2013 – The Friends of the Library will sponsor a hilarious holiday program this season: a live reading of A Christmas Story, a nostalgic, humorous collection of stories by Jean Shepherd. Originally published as part of Shepherd’s larger anthology, In God We Trust; All Others Pay Cash, A Christmas Story inspired a 1983 movie of the same name–a perennial favorite that wryly portrays a family’s typical Christmas joys and travails in small-town Depression-era Indiana.
The reading will be delivered by local actor Steve Gaghagen, known for his countless roles with Big Bear’s community theater groups.
It will be held on December 14 at 2 p.m. at the Big Bear Lake Branch Library (41930 Garstin Drive in Big Bear Lake).
This is a free community program open to the general public. Reservations aren’t required but seating is limited. For more information, call the library at (909) 866-5571.
