An overdue water bill notice to a local lodge owner resulted in his arrest yesterday morning, according to Big Bear Sheriff’s Station Captain Greg Garland. Stan Miller, owner of the Knickerbocker Mansion County Inn in Big Bear Lake, received a shut-off notice, in the form of a door hanger, from the Department of Water and Power, which was prompted by an unpaid water bill. On Thursday morning, October 29, Captain Garland tells KBHR, the Sheriff’s Station received a call from the DWP, reporting that they had received multiple phone calls from Miller, threatening to blow up the DWP building. Following investigation, deputies made contact with Miller, who was subsequently arrested on felony charges of criminal threats. Miller was booked into the Big Bear jail on Thursday, though he is currently out of custody, having posted the $50,000 bail. An arraignment hearing on the felony charge is scheduled for December 29 in San Bernardino.
