Big Bear, Ca May 2, 2011 9:00 am – The Kiwanis Club of Big Bear Valley will honor 22 students at a ceremony to be held at the Performing Arts Center tonight. Kiwanis is a global volunteer organization dedicated to “changing the world, one child and one community at a time.” Hope for America is a program of Kiwanis’ California-Nevada-Hawaii Foundation, recognizing and encouraging students who demonstrate leadership, good character, and a devotion to learning. The Big Bear students receiving the awards have been selected by their school teachers and principals. Each student will be presented with a CNH Foundation plaque, a $100 savings bond, and share with the audience their achievements and future plans. Prior to the awards presentation, the High School Jazz Band will perform beginning at 6:30 pm. The public is invited to attend, free of charge.
