Big Bear, CA, May 4, 2016 – On Monday evening, May 2nd, the Kiwanis Club of Big Bear Valley recognized deserving students with the Hope of America Award.
The Hope of America Award recognizes and encourages students who have demonstrated academic accomplishments, leadership and good character. These students are potential leaders who have sustained the democratic way of life and exhibited outstanding citizenship traits. Criteria for selection of a recipient include capacity for leadership, ethical and moral character, and academic competency.
Selection was not only made on the basis of academic achievement, but also on demonstrated leadership and character combined with consistent devotion to the acquisition of learning skills.
The winners include: Sophia DeMarco from Baldwin Lane Elementary, Alissa Everman from Big Bear Elementary, Charlotte Boda from North Shore Elementary, Jan Conner Lehigh from Fallsvale Elementary, Ashley Everman and Alec Burton from Big Bear Middle School, Zane McLinn, Cassidy Putman, David Sanders, and Brandy Murphy from Big Bear High School, and Michelle Elliott from Chatauqua High School.
Kiwanis Club of Big Bear Valley’s goal is to challenge youths to excel in school and to dedicate themselves to strengthening their character and leadership skills.
