Big Bear, Ca, February 14, 2012, 12:00pm – At Monday nights City Council meeting, Kent Kessler, a member of Big Bear Valley Citizens on Patrol, received a proclamation from the City of Big Bear Lake for his graffiti removal cleanup efforts. According to Tiffany Swantek, Public Information Officer for the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station, Mr. Kessler has been a local business owner for the past 21 years. Over the past 17 years, Mr. Kessler has taken it upon himself to perform graffiti removal and cleanup efforts along the highways leading into and out of the Big Bear Valley. This includes graffiti removal on road signage, boulders, electrical boxes, guard rails and wherever offensive and unsightly graffiti may exist. Kessler has been a volunteer member of the Big Bear Valley Citizens on Patrol Unit since November, 2009. When he joined COP’s, Mr. Kessler brought the graffiti removal program to the attention of the Sheriff’s Department. Cleanup efforts are now done by Mr. Kessler and other COP members as part of their duties as public safety volunteers of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station. The Big Bear Sheriff’s Station is grateful to Mr. Kessler for his continued dedication to law enforcement and his commitment to the community.
