Although the nations’ campaigns for president have taken the spotlight for so many months the most important to the Big Bear Valley are the offices that have their roots closest to home. With 100% of the precincts reporting the unofficial results of yesterday’s election are as follows.
James Ramos has easily won his reelection efforts by taking 65% of the vote over opponent Donna Munoz for the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Third District. Robert Lovingood will face a runoff with Angela Valles for the first district and Josie Gonzales of the 5th district will return as she ran unopposed.
Assemblyman Jay Obernolte received 62% of the vote over opponent Scott Markovich. But in a California “top two” election process they will face off again in November for the 33rd district State Assembly district.
State Senator Mike Morrell is in a similar circumstance where after taking over 55% of the vote he will face Ronald O’donnell in the fall.
Congressman Paul Cook received a commanding 43% of the vote and, if the final count holds steady he will face little known Rita Ramirez after she just edged out Tim Donnelly for the second spot next November.
