Big Bear Lake, CA, March 11, 2015 -At approximately 9:36 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10th, deputies from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a fire in the area of Dream Street and Waynoka Lane in Big Bear Lake. Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters from the Big Bear Fire Department responded and observed a residence fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters extinguished the flames; however, the residence had partially collapsed and was completely destroyed. The neighboring properties suffered minor to moderate damage. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Bomb/Arson Division responded to the location last night to conduct their investigation. After assessing the scene, it was determined that the structure was too dangerous for investigators to enter the property. Upon stabilizing the structure this morning with special equipment in order for the investigation to continue, the remains of a deceased male were found in the debris. The victim’s identification and cause of death will be determined and released by the Coroner’s Office. Investigation into this matter is ongoing.
