Alumni and community members can tour the schools that have been refurbished with the financial backing of Measure Q funding. This Saturday is also “Saturday Academy” at Big Bear Middle School. Middle School students who have at least one absence can attend “Saturday Academy” from 9am to 1pm to recapture instruction missed and allow for the School District to recapture funds missed for the absence. The four hour period accounts for one school day. “Saturday Academy” usually focuses on fun activities for the kids while they learn. This Saturday students will learn the process of how information is transferred onto DVD’s and CD’s from a lazer light expert. Extra incentives for attendance at “Saturday Academy” include free slurpees for all who attend. Some teachers even offer extra credit. Registration forms must be submitted to the Middle School office by Thursday, September 16th for students to attend “Saturday Academy” as parental permission is required.
