Big Bear, Ca, May 13, 2011, 3:00pm – Caltrans, Skanska, and SEMA Construction are continuing to make progress restoring Highway 330 through emergency repair contracts estimated at $23.5 million. In order to prepare for the possible opening of Highway-330 for the Memorial Day weekend, the route will be closed to commuters and unrestricted emergency access Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, May 18 through 20. The Department hopes that the route will be restored for commuter access the following Monday, May 23. Repairs that require the roadway to be completely removed in some locations will take place those three days along with other crucial work to prepare a safe roadbed for motorists. Cal Trans also wants motorists to be advised that other full closures may be necessary in the future in preparation for Memorial Day.
