Big Bear Lake, CA, February 25, 2013 – The Big Bear Branch of the American Association of University Women is partnering with Bearly Speaking Toastmasters to present the second annual Eleanor Stem Allen Memorial Speech Contest. This year’s topic is “Sexual Harassment in Schools…big deal?” and is open to all high school students.
The speakers compete for cash prizes, and the contest –also known as Speech Trek – has served as a stepping stone for past students. The winner of last year’s inaugural contest, Elizabeth Johnson, went on to capture 5th place at the State level. Her presentation on “Bullying” earned an additional cash prize for her and statewide recognition to the Big Bear Valley.
The contest will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. at Keller Williams Realty (42149 Big Bear Blvd, at the corner of Fox Farm Road). Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
