Big Bear, CA, December 2, 2015 – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues the bridge rehabilitation project on State Route 38 (SR-38) at Hathaway Creek Bridge near Barton Flats. The $1.6 million project will upgrade the pavement, bridge rails, and replace the bridge deck and approach slabs. Project benefits include improved access for increased truck traffic and new pavement with extended life requiring less maintenance. Caltrans opened all lanes on SR-38 over Hathaway Creek November 2 and one-way traffic control will no longer be necessary for the bridge rehabilitation operation.
As work continues towards completion this month, lane closures will be minimal. Motorists are advised that roadwork continues on mountain routes to Big Bear and they should plan ahead for delays anticipated during the planned construction and ongoing maintenance work.
Caltrans asks that motorists please be aware of the work and SLOW FOR THE CONE ZONE.
