Big Bear Lake, CA, November 9, 2013 – The public is invited to celebrate the 238th birthday of the United States Marine Corps tonight, in the company of veterans, families of past and present service personnel and the Marine Corps League Detachment.
The program begins at the Elks Lodge (40611 Village Drive) at 5:00 pm with cocktails (no host bar) and a social hour. The Opening Ceremony will start promptly at 6:15, followed by dinner and the traditional cake cutting. Adding to the occasion will be music from the Mountain Marvellettes.
The evening’s guest speaker is Sergeant Major Christopher Nagle from 29 Palms, VMU-3, MACG-38. A native of New Haven, Connecticut, Nagle enlisted in the Marine Corps in September of 1992 and attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, SC. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star and Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars.
