Big Bear, Ca, January 20, 2012, 4:00pm – The 5th Habitat for Humanity home in the Big Bear Valley is well under way, as the first phase of construction nears completion. The mission of Big Bear Valley Habitat for Humanity is to provide affordable housing for low-income families. Each completed home is sold at zero percent interest to a local family, which also works 500 hours on the house. Many Big Bear area companies and individuals have donated money, services and materials, including Best Windows, Butcher’s Block, Brandon Kawa, Connelly Pumping, Big Bear Community Services District, Gary McCord, Gilligan Real Estate, Jon Wreesman, Ken Wilkinson, Kevin Shall, Kyle Lindley Construction, Mapco, Re/Max, Riffenburgh Lumber Company, Robertson Ready Mix, Big Bear Rotary Club, Rusty Barnes, Shawn McDonald, Silver Pines Escrow, Steve Elliot and Trenna Bailey. Many other local individuals are volunteering time and manpower to help build the 1200-square-foot three-bedroom/two-bath home that includes a spacious entry deck spanning the front of the house. While the home is being built, tenants for the home are being sought by Big Bear Valley Habitat for Humanity. Anyone interested in applying or volunteering may contact Big Bear Valley Habitat for Humanity by calling 909/273-3036 or by email to bbvhfh@gmail.com.
