Greg Boll, owner of Big Bear Marina, past owner of Timberline Lodge and a businessman long involved in the Big Bear community, passed away last night (August 17) at the age of 48. Boll had been very involved in the Big Bear Valley, serving on the Planning Commission of Big Bear Lake, as charter President of the Big Bear Valley Fire Safe Council, a member of the Big Bear Lake Resort Association Board, and President of the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce, even having been honored as the Chamber’s Director of the Year in 2001-2002. Kat Sawyer, who served with Boll on the Fire Safe Council, tells KBHR, “Greg always stood up for the little guy. He was always there for his friends. He loved life, he loved the marina, and he loved Big Bear—and, probably the first thing, is the love of his daughter Megan.” Boll is survived by many longtime friends, including Alan Sharp, his partner at Big Bear Marina; 14-year-old daughter Megan (Boll’s daughter with wife Debbie, who passed several years ago), and his companion Kris Assel. Memorial services for Greg Boll who, again, passed away just last night, have not yet been announced. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
Update: Memorial information posted in August 20 story.
