Big Bear Valley’s third grade students are taking a KOOL field trip to the lake today, courtesy of the Big Bear Municipal Water District’s KOOL (as in the Kids Out On the Lake) Kids program. This annual activity is an opportunity for the seven and eight-year-olds to enjoy Big Bear Lake, while also learning about safe boating and life jackets, fish identification and handling; MWD staff will also share with third graders that “a clean lake is a healthy lake.” The day’s activities in the KOOL Kids program also include a boat ride, lunch and the opportunity for each student to fish for bluegill on Big Bear Lake. The Municipal Water District sponsors this program for BVUSD’s third grade students each year; the KOOL Kids will also receive a t-shirt and goodie bag as part of their field trip to Big Bear Marina.
