Big Bear, Ca, January 4, 2011, 8:00am – The Big Bear Teen Center will be hosting its 1st ever Big Bear Classic Golf Tournament on March 4th. Now is the time to grab three friends and register your team for this event that will benefit the youth center. The Big Bear Teen Center is the product of a collaborative effort of the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District, Community Church by the Lake, and Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley. The center is a place where 6th, 7th and 8th graders can go after school. A youth center bus actually picks the students up after school, and gives the students something to do other than going home and watching TV. Reese Troublefeild, General Manager of the Park and Recreation District invites everyone to participate in this event that will give local teens a place to go after school. “This important effort to assist our young teens during this most critical stage of life is dependent on annual fundraising to meet the financial obligations of the program.” Said Troublefield. The cost to participate is $100 per player, and includes the green fee and golf cart, hat, shirt, lunch, dinner, guaranteed golf prizes and a golf clinic presented by PGA professional Dawson Hess. Early registration ends on February 1st, and after the fee will raise to $110 per player.
