Big Bear, CA, June 18, 2012, 8:00am – Local 12-year-old Drayden Gardner continues to reach new heights in the sport of snowboarding. Drayden has been chosen as one of only two junior snowboarders invited to participate in the World Heli Challenge in Wanaka, New Zealand. As a Young Gun in the Challenge, he will compete alongside the 30 main event snowboarding and skiing athletes this July 31st through August 16th. Drayden’s snowboarding career so far includes a long list of accomplishments including 4th place in the USASA Nationals in Halfpipe, 8th place in the USASA Nationals in Slopestyle, 1st place in the Gatorade Free Flow and many, many more for 2012. Drayden’s main goal is to compete in the most elite board sport contests world wide including all TTR ranked events, X-Games and US Olympics for snowboarding. Already, he has competed in over 200 competitions in both snow and skate. As a community, we can help send Drayden to New Zealand at a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Old Country Inn on Wednesday, June 20th beginning at 4pm to closing. Dinner is $5.99 per plate with the option to purchase raffle tickets for prizes.
