The Friends of the Moonridge Zoo are inviting the general public to join them for their meeting this evening (April 16), as an update on the new zoo will be presented during the 6pm meeting, to be held at the Park District offices at 41220 Park Avenue in Big Bear Lake. For those interested in being involved at the zoo, Friends of the Moonridge Zoo will be offering two rounds of adult docent training, the first of which begins next Saturday, April 25. The first two of three docent classes (offered on consecutive Saturdays at 11am) will provide trainees with the history and overview of the zoo, and information on how some of the more popular animals came to be “home for life” residents within the animal park. In the third of three docent session, trainees will have be able to explore the various volunteering opportunities within the zoo. A second introductory docent training program will be offered on Thursdays, starting June 11. For questions on this evening’s meeting or docent training, call Friends of the Moonridge Zoo at 878-4200.
