As a result Highway 38 is closing in both directions at Bryant Street. The fire is currently between 75-100 acres, and helicopters are on scene, dropping water. According to Caltrans Public Information Officer, Terri Kasinga Highway 38 will be closed, with an undetermined reopen time due to equipment being on the road, and the Sheriffs department declaring it a crime scene. The fire started near the side of the road, and is being investigated for the cause. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route toward Big Bear to avoid the closure. Both Highway 18 the front grade, and Highway 18 the back grade are both open.
