Fire in Mountain Home Village Shuts Down HWY 38

San Bernardino Mountains, Ca, October 11, 2010, 2:15pm – At approximately 11:00am today a fire started in the Mountain Home Village area on Highway 38.  The fire, also known as the Village Incident Fire is located on the east side of Highway 38 and has since grown to 3 acres, where it is currently holding.  Highway 38 has been closed for the past two hours.  According to Cal Trans Public Information Officer Terry Kassinga, Cal Trans will start an escort process 2 miles south of Angeles Oaks to allow traffic up and down the mountain.  Cal Trans hopes to have the roads re-opened around 6:00pm.  If you plan on traveling up to Big Bear, Highway 330, the front grade, or Highway 18 through Lucerne Valley is advised.
