Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Delta Way

Big Bear City, CA, September 27, 7:30am – Officers from the California Highway Patrol and Big Bear City Fire Department were sent to the area of State Route 18, north of Delta Way, near Baldwin Lake for a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon. When officers arrived they found that Anthony Mario Macias, a 58 year-old resident of Apple Valley, was the driver of a motorcycle traveling southbound on State Route 18, when traffic suddenly stopped. Macias was unable to stop and struck a Honda Accord. His motorcycle propelled into the northbound lane and struck an oncoming motorcycle, causing Macias and his passenger to be ejected, as well as the driver of the other motorcycle. Macias was declared dead at the scene. His passenger and the driver of the other motorcycle were taken to area hospitals and treated for injuries. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
