Big Bear, Ca, March 22, 2011, 4:00pm – The Jasperson Family in Big Bear Lake now has three sons who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award in scouting. Riley Jasperson joined his older brothers Chris and Eric as an Eagle Scout after meeting and exceeding the required 21 challenging merit badges. To become an Eagle Scout one must be active in their troop, demonstrate that they live by the priciples of the Scout Oath and Law in their daily life, and earn a total of 21 merit badges which must include the following : first aid, personal fitness, emergency preparedness, camping, environmental science, personal management, community service, citizen in the community, and many more. Riley met the community service requirement by designing and supervising an extensive xeriscape project for the patio at Big Bear High School. After graduation from high school, Riley plans to go on a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. When he returns from his mission, he plans to follow in his older brother Chris’s footsteps, and pursue a nomination to U.S. Naval Academy.
