Cajon Pass, CA, January 14, 2011, 4pm – Caltrans is advising motorists of an emergency paving project on Interstate 15 that would affect Big Bear travelers commuting to and from the Los Angeles basin using Highway 18 through Lucerne Valley. Granite Construction will be repairing pavement that was damaged during the recent storms beginning on the southbound lanes from just south of Oak Hill Road and continuing to Cleghorn Road. Crews will have to close all but one lane from 9am to 3pm today, Friday, January 14th. Roadwork will cease for the weekend and Martin Luther King holiday Monday resuming on Tuesday, January 18th through Thursday, January 21st. Motorists are advised by Caltrans to expect lengthy delays. Once southbound I-15 work is completed, crews will begin repair work on northbound I-15 from Kenwood to Oak Hill at a date to be determined. Detours will be in place for travelers during the length of the project and, again, no work is scheduled for the weekend or holiday Monday.
