Big Bear, Ca April 23, 2011 3:00 pm – Since the 325 AD, Christians have celebrated Easter on the first Sunday after the full moon following the spring equinox. As a celebration of rebirth, the Easter Sunrise Service has long been an important tradition within many Christian churches. In Big Bear this year, a sunrise service will be held outdoors in the prayer park beside Shepard in the Pines Lutheran Church. The service begins at 6:00 am Sunday morning. Special Easter services are planned at the other churches in the valley as well. Several of the local restaurants will be offering Easter Brunch menus including Stillwells at the Northwoods Resort and Knottinghams in the Village. At Madlon’s in Big Bear City, enjoy all-you-can-eat waffles from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm. Peppercorn Grill will have several special lunch items beginning at 11:00 am. For a celebration of Easter and spring, Big Bear offers a wide variety of choices, something for just about anyone.
