Two Earthquakes in Big Bear Valley in Last 24 Hours

This past Sunday marked the 17th anniversary of the 6.4 magnitude earthquake, which rattled Big Bear Valley on the morning on June 28, 1992. In the last 24 hours, we have had another two earthquakes centered in our area. This morning (June 30) at 3:03am, the U.S. Geological Survey reports an earthquake of a 1.7 magnitude, centered four miles northwest of Big Bear Lake and at a depth of over seven miles. This quake was preceded by a 1.3 magnitude tremor on Monday at 11:01am; this quake was centered four miles northwest of Big Bear City, and registered a depth of over six miles. As a means of being earthquake prepared, families should have an emergency supplies kit, a household disaster plan, and enough food and water for three days in the case of a large-scale earthquake.
