Big Bear Lake, CA, May 1, 2013 – The City of Big Bear Lake Department of Water & Power (DWP) is looking for two new representatives to serve on their Board of Commissioners. The seats become vacant on June 30, when the terms expire for Commissioners Fred Miller and Don Smith.
To serve on the DWP Board, an appointee must be a registered voter and a resident of an area served by the DWP — but not necessarily live within City limits; that requirement ended with the recent passage of Measure W in 2010.
The Board is a five-member body appointed by the Big Bear Lake City Council. Commissioners currently meet the fourth Tuesday of every month at 9:00 a.m., at the DWP offices on Garstin Road. Responsibilities include decisions related to water conservation, supply, generation, distribution and sale of water and related services. Commissioners are required to attend all regularly scheduled meetings and all subsequent ones called for.
Applications are available at the Civic Center (39707 Big Bear Blvd.), online at www.citybigbearlake.com or through the City Clerk’s office at (909) 866-5831. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, May 17, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. The City Council will interview prospective candidates.
