Big Bear, CA, January 16, 2015 – During the week of January 19-22, the Big Bear Fire Department will be hosting a multi-casualty incident training event. Citizens in Big Bear Valley can expect to see a variety of vehicles and staff from the Big Bear Fire Dept., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dept., and the San Bernardino County Fire Dept./Hazardous Materials Division that could include a bomb squad vehicle, a flying black-ops helicopter, and other vehicles that are unusual to the Big Bear area.
There is some concern that this could be misinterpreted as a real incident and residents are reminded that this is just a drill. On day three, Wednesday, January 21, a live action drill will be conducted at the Paradise Training Center and sightings of these vehicles and staff will most likely intensify on this day.
Working and training together is an integral part of preparation for any tragic incident. Although they hope to never have to use these skills, the community should be assured that your local emergency response teams are well trained and fully prepared.
