Big Bear, CA, May 27, 2015 – The Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake will host its eighteenth annual “Eagle of Excellence” Community Service Awards Ceremony and Dinner on Sunday, June 7th. The dinner and awards ceremony is dedicated to honoring members of the Big Bear community that exhibit a very high caliber of professionalism, enthusiasm, work ethic and commitment to service, not only in their vocational field, but also in how they demonstrate excellence in the personal giving of time, energy and influence on others within the Bear Valley community.
Since the Rotary Club began this program in 1998, over 91 individuals, mostly non Rotarians, have been honored with the “Eagle of Excellence” award. This year’s honorees include a distinguished group of Bear Valley residents from a variety of professions. The 2015 group of honorees include Renee Wagner, owner of the Barnstorm Restaurant who has volunteered her time with Rotary, Doves, and the Arts Council; Paul Senft, a software designer and IT lecturer who, among other things, has been very involved with the Big Bear Valley Education Trust and the AARP TaxAide Program, providing free tax services to seniors and low income families in Big Bear; Ed Wallace, who serves on the boards of the Sierra Club – Big Bear Group, the Bear Valley Trails Foundation, the Big Bear Valley Education Trust, and Friends of the Big Bear Valley; Simeon and Dana Prophet, owners of the local ReMax franchise and supporters of numerous local charities and causes throughout the valley; and Robbie Bos, a former graphic artist who has become an ardent conservationist, being involved for 13 years with the annual Xeriscape Garden Tour, designing and helping to create the DWP’s Xeriscape Demonstration Gardens, and was instrumental in creating the Community Gardens Project on Fox Farm Road.
