Big Bear Lake, CA, April 30, 2015 – On Monday evening in Hofert Hall, Mayor Dave Caretto and the Big Bear Lake City Council invited the community to join them in honoring Dick Kun. They were there to acknowledge Dick for his decades of exceptional stewardship of Big Bear’s two resorts and service to this community.
Dick’s attention to snowmaking, lift-line management, and customer service have created two world class resorts that bring close to a million skiers and snowboarders to our mountain community every year. Bear Mountain and Snow Summit are critical in helping to drive the economy of Big Bear. Dick also helped create the Resort Association, now known as the Visitor’s Bureau. He recognized the value of having Big Bear businesses work together to help give visitors to our valley a better, more full service experience while staying in our community. Dick has also helped by lending his voice and expertise to many local organizations and causes. He has been deeply involved with both the Rotary Club of Big Bear and the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce.
Longtime, well known members of the community as well as dignitaries from the city, all pictured above, spoke eloquently in paying tribute to Dick Kun’s many years of service to our community. The word describing Dick that was repeated the most was ‘visionary’. Thank you, Mr. Kun.
