Big Bear, CA, February 19, 2015 – The Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake will conduct its annual dental screening program at all three local elementary schools on Wednesday, March 4. The program will be held from 8:00 am until noon at Big Bear Elementary, North Shore Elementary, and Baldwin Lane Elementary schools. All Kindergartners and 1st graders who have not previously attended public school, along with all 3rd and 5th graders are eligible to be screened. Parent permission and information slips have been sent home with students.
The program was started in Big Bear by Dr. Bob Davies, a long time Rotarian and a prominent local dentist. Dr. Davies passed away in 2011, and the program is now named in his honor. This year, seven local dentists are donating their time to the program with Dr. Kristine Yoshida coordinating those participating.
This free program provided by the Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake easily allows parents to comply with California state law requiring all new kindergarten or first graders to receive a dental screening during their first year of public school. For many students it will be their very first visit with a dentist, and the information derived from each dental screening will be passed along to parents.
