County Supervisors to Consider BBARWA Appointment, Sod for Soccer Fields, and Slurry Seal for Sugarloaf Roads in Today’s Meeting

This morning’s meeting of the Board of Supervisors of San Bernardino County will include a number of agenda items specific to the Big Bear Valley. Among those (as noted yesterday), Supervisors will consider appointment of Fawnskin resident Tom Brandau to the Governing Board of the Big Bear Area Regional Wastewater Agency. This fifth seat is the only BBARWA appointment, as others on the board are elected via the Big Bear Lake City Council and the Community Services District. County Supervisors will also vote on whether or not to designate $200,000 from the Special Districts Department Administrative Operating Budget to allow for the installation of sod and fencing for three new soccer fields at The Ranch Sports Complex, operated by the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District. These funds will be a temporary advance, to bridge the gap until Proposition 40 funds are received, in order to ensure that the soccer fields are useable in June. The lowest bidder for the project was Trinity Construction of Blue Jay. Other items for the Supervisors’ consideration today include a Sugarloaf slurry seal project to cover 23 miles of roads; and renewal of the no-cost agreement with Snow Summit Resort which, since 1959, has offered their ski slopes for use by the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District’s ski program.
