Big Bear Valley, CA, April 9, noon – San Bernardino County officials would like to remind residents that Saturday, April 14, 2012 is Community Clean-up & Recycling Day. Residents of the unincorporated county areas, and the city of Big Bear Lake can dispose and recycle regular household trash and debris at no charge at the Big Bear Transfer Station on Holcomb Valley Road from 8am to 4:30pm. The County is asking residents to recycle as much as possible. County solid waste disposal sites offer drop-off bins for a variety of recyclables, such as glass, plastic, cardboard, wood and green waste, and metal. Increasing costs and diminishing revenue will bring an end to County-sponsored Community Clean-up & Recycling Days following this event. Residents will still have options for low or no cost disposal. Trash service typically includes bulky item pickups at no extra cost. Also, many materials can be recycled by taking them to recycling centers. For a complete listing of all County solid waste disposal/recycling sites and their hours of operation and rates, or recycling and waste reduction ideas, go to the department of Public Works at www.sbcounty.gov/dpw/solidwaste
