Big Bear, Ca, July 26, 2011, 4:00pm – At the July 25th meeting of the Big Bear Lake City Council, it was decided to proceed with submitting an application to the American Veterans Traveling Tribute Inc. & The Traveling Wall Foundation (AVTT/TWF) for the “Cost of Freedom” Exhibit to come to our community. The exhibit recognizes those who have served in every war/conflict that the United States has been involved in, though the centerpiece is a miniature replica of the Vietnam Wall, 380 feet long displaying all 58,253 names of those who served. According to the City of Big Bear Lake, “many think having this exhibit visit the weekend of the Annual 1st Lt. Jared M. Landaker Memorial Run is a good idea. That weekend, traditionally the last in September, is already booked for 2012, so the City applied for 2013.
