Community Invited to National Night Out Event on August 4

The annual community event hosted by the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station, National Night Out, returns on Tuesday, August 4 and will once again be held at the Big Bear Convention Center, on Big Bear Boulevard at Division. The National Night Out program is designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and foster relationships between the community and law enforcement, while sending the message that Big Bear will not tolerate crime. Information will be available about local anti-crime and drug prevention programs, and our local fire departments will also be at National Night Out, to answer questions regarding defensible space, emergency preparedness and home safety. This year’s event will also include the Bloodmobile (and an opportunity to win a Harley Davidson) and, new this round, a child car seat fitting station. Certified child passenger safety technicians from the California Highway Patrol and the Sheriff’s Department will be on hand to check for proper car seat installation and, for low-income families who meet eligibility requirements, properly fitting car seats will be available free of charge. Tuesday evening’s National Night Out event, which runs from 4 to 7pm, will also include representatives from local community service groups and fun activities for children, as well as antique cars and choppers on display. Burgers and hot dogs will be available for purchase at National Night Out at the Convention Center, and all are welcome to attend this free community event.
