The Big Bear Valley Community Emergency Response Team, which has been in place since 1998 to assist in disaster situations, will hold their next monthly training meeting on Monday, November 23. The green vest crew, and all those interested in learning more about the volunteer CERT program, are invited to the 6pm session at the Big Bear Discovery Center, during which time emergency first aid procedures will be reviewed. Monday’s meeting is part of the ongoing training provided to the CERT team, which is equipped to serve the Valley as first responders in situations such as fires, flooding, windstorms and earthquakes by fanning out within their neighborhoods to extinguish small fires, turn off natural gas inlets, perform light search and rescue, and administer basic first aid.
