Your neighbors on the Community Emergency Response Team will be walking through the communities of Sugarloaf, Erwin Lake and Lake Williams on a “Meet the Neighbors” tour this Saturday, September 12, details of which were sent home with Baldwin Lane Elementary students this week. The CERT team, identified by their green vests, are initiating a Valley-wide effort to get to know the community, as they will be on the front lines with law enforcement and emergency personnel in the instance of an emergency, be it fire, flood or earthquake. CERT members are trained to respond to disaster situations and, should you be interested in joining the team, the next round of CERT training will be held at the Big Bear City Fire Department September 21-25, for five evenings, from 6 to 10pm. The training series is available to any resident, age 18 or over, looking to contribute to the community. For more information, or to register for the CERT series (offered at $10 per person), call the Big Bear City Fire Department at 585-2362.
