The City of Big Bear Lake hosts a Community Needs Identification Forum on Wednesday afternoon, and the public, local businesses, and civic and service organizations are invited to attend and provide input. The community needs, to cover 2010 through 2015, may include such items as public safety, facility access, transportation, fire protection, education, child care, health care, homelessness, recreation, housing, code enforcement, blight removal and employment. The City, in cooperation with the County of San Bernardino Department of Community Development and Housing, is hosting the forum at 1:30pm on the 2nd to, primarily, help identify the community development and housing needs of the Valley’s low and moderate-income residents. Results of Wednesday’s meeting, to be held in Hofert Hall in the Civic Center (at 39707 Big Bear Boulevard in Big Bear Lake), will be used to establish the City’s funding strategies and priorities over the next five years for using HOME Investment Partnerships, Emergency Shelter Grant and Community Development Block Grant program funds.
